چکیده

Microstructural properties of six samples, prepared by rapid hydrolysis of aluminum secbutoxide, were investigated at RT using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry. The results of structural analysis show that, regardless of a significant difference in the processing parameters (pH, temperature, time of synthesis), all products contain boehmite as the only crystal phase present. The results of FE-SEM analysis indicate a significant difference in the morphology of obtained boehmites (plates, needles, granules). The results of line-broadening analysis of powder diffraction patterns (Le Bail method – program GSAS) indicate the presence of very small anisotropic crystal domains (around 1.5 to 7 nm in the direction 010; around 3 to 16 nm in the direction perpendicular to 010). In all cases the parameters that contribute to the strain broadening of diffraction lines decrease to nearly zero, which suggests that the obtained boehmites are almost strain-free. Size of Boehmite Nanoparticles by Tem Images Analysis

Transition aluminas, and especially the gamma type, are largely used as catalyst supports in refining and petrochemicals. Most studies focus on properties resulting from material texture and casting (specific surface, porous volume, pore shape and diameter). However, surface properties of alumina should be considered as well, as the catalytic activity is tightly related to the structure of expo...

THE INFLUENCE OF pH AND UV VISIBLE ABSORBTION ON HYDROLYSIS STAGE AND GEL BEHAVIOR OF GLASSES SYNTHESIZED BY SOL-GEL

Abstract: Lead-containing glass borosilicate was synthesized by Sol-gel technique using metalalkoxids such as tetraethyleorthosilicate (TEOS), Al-sec-butoxide and trimethyl borate. The sol containing TEOS converts to gel during drop wise addition of Al-alkoxide while inorganic lead salt was added in the last stage of gelation to prepare the alcogels. The specimens were dried at room tempera...

Preparation and Characterization of High Specific Surface Area γ-Alumina Nanoparticles Via Sol-Gel Method

In the present investigation, γ-alumina nanoparticles with particle sizes less than 10 nm, high specific surface area (351 m2/g), high pore volumes and relatively narrow pore sizes distribution was prepared via sol-gel method in presence of aluminum isopropoxide as an aluminum precursor, distilled water, acetic acid as hydrolysis rate controller and tert-butanol as solvent. They had meso ...

Preparation of γ-Al2O3 and Prioritization of Affecting Factors on the Crystallite Size Using Taguchi Method

In this work, boehmite sol was prepared by a previously applied and validated method; hydrolysis of aluminum chloride hexa-hydrate. In order to obtain precise results, the effect of pH after adding precipitating agent, aging time, peptizing temperature and ultrasonic vibration time on the crystallite size of final precipitate were investigated in a narrow range. The preparation conditions appli...
